PAGE 2 王雨川 译 Design of Autonomous Family Accompanying Robot Based on ROS Abstract: To solve the problem of lack of company among left-behind children, empty-nest elderly and people with mobility difficulties, an autonomous family companion robot is designed. On the basis of the robot operating system (ROS) architecture, a self-moving family companion robot is built with Jetson TX1 as the core, and then the software is designed so that it can not only communicate with people in natural language. It can also use eye expression and human-machine interaction through user interface (UI). Through the physical test, the rationality of the robot design is verified, which can meet the daily family company work, and can continue to develop it to be competent for more work. Key words: Family Accompanying Robot ROS Natural Language Body Communication UI Introduction With the development of economy and social change, more and more young people are leaving their homes to work far away, leaving left behind children, empty nest elderly and those who are unable to move [1-3]. These people often feel lonely without adequate company, which will have a great impact on their body and mind in the long run, and even individual self-abdication and suicide [4-6]. While various forms of accompanying robot [7] have emerged in the market at present, most of them are child accompanying robots, such as iFLYTEKs Alpha Egg robot, the excellent optional Wukong robot, the Luca robot, and only a few of them have strong functions, such as Honda Asimo and Softbank Corp. Pepper and other humanoid robots. These robots either focus on early childhood education, lack companionship with the elderly, or are more expensive.
