锲而不舍(qiè ér bu shě)
Chinese culture values the great spirit of persistence. Lots of idioms express such meaning, among which is the one well introduce this week-锲而不舍(Qie Er Bu She).
“锲(Qie)” means “the act of carving” and “不舍(Bu She)” means “not giving up. This idiom, as a whole, suggests if we keep carving, we will eventually turn a metal or stone piece into an art work, however hard it is. Taking carving metal or stone as an analogy, this idiom highlights the moral that if we dont give up, we will achieve our goal one day.
Dear friends, the road to success is a continuous journey. Whenever you set up a goal, stick to it and youll finally succeed with ongoing efforts. (127 words)

For this week’s Chinese idiom to share. I would like to introduce “锲而不舍 (qie ér bù shě), one with an enlightening moral behind it.
With 锲 meaning to carve and 不舍 meaning “never to stop, this idiom literally means carving the gold stone without stopping. Figuratively, this idiom denotes the admirable personality of perseverance in pursuing a goal, or the never-give-up spirit. It is firmly believed in Chinese philosophy that with constant efforts, one is bound to succeed.
So may we all have the spirit of being qiè ér bù shě in our study and work and be rewarded with a fruitful harvest. (112 words)
