The plan total covers all the costs planned manually for a WBS element, including the plan values for appended orders assigned to it. It is often used as a template for budgeting. The plan total view shows the costs aggregated in superior WBS elements The distributed view shows the total of all costs planned manually in subordinate WBS elements (structure-oriented planning + detailed planning + unit costing).
