Here, a user has launched a web browser on a Windows machine and entered the URL of a Sun Secure Global Desktop server. The user is presented with a login dialog to provide access credentials. Once authenticated, the users “webtop” is displayed. The webtop is where all of the applications and desktop environments that have been published to the user are displayed. To use an application, the user simply clicks a link on the webtop to launch the application on the remote server and it is immediately displayed. In addition to launching applications, the webtop also provides: - User application object grouping, allowing users to setup custom group of objects - User session control (suspend/resume/end sessions)? - User printing control One of the common objections to running applications remotely is that the user experience will be significantly different from using local applications.
