Read the text to understand the cultural characteristics of Chinatown in
San Francisco and the relationship between Chinese culture and American multiculturalism.
Through reading, learn to comb the main information of the article,
understand the authors writing purpose and writing characteristics.
Learn to give a comprehensive description of the city or town you live in, learn to revise and evaluate your writing.

Guide the students to read the introduction of Chinatown in San Francisco and grasp its writing characteristics.

Guide the students to introduce their city or town in a comprehensive, accurate and organized way.

Step1 leading in
Give students some pictures of Chinatown to let them to guess where it is and let them know something about Chinatown.
Step2. Object clause
Give the definition of object clause and find some examples from The Million Pound
Bank Note.
The three important factors of object clause: conjunctions, sentence order and tense.
Show students some examples and conclude the usage of different conjunctions.
A declarative sentence order should be used in object clause.
Different tenses will be used in object clause. What tenses will be used should
be based on different situations.
Ask students to pay attention to two important notes of object clause.
When the object clauses include some verbs, subjunctive mood should be used and
its structure will be like this: should+v.
“it” is used as the formal object when necessary.
