Teaching objectives:
1.By the end of class, the students will be able to say the new words and phrases.
2.By the end of class , the students will be able to retell the passage.
Important points:
1. New words and expressions : storm, wind, light, report, area, wood, window, flashlight, match, beat, against, fall asleep, die down, rise, fallen, apart
2. The students will be able to retell the passage.
Difficult points:
Retelling the passage
Teaching steps:
Pre- reading
Task1:Lead in the new words and phrases by showing the students pictures;
Task2:Ask the students to read the new words and expressions aloud.
While- reading
Task1: Ask the students to read the passage quickly to get the main idea of the passage.
Task2: Ask the students to read each paragraph to get the main idea of each paragraph. Task3:
Task3: Ask the students to read the passage again and do 3b.
Task4: Ask the students to fill in the chart about this passage.( The chart was made according to the time of the rainstorm.)
Post-reading
Task1: Ask the students try to retell the passage according to the chart.
Task2: Ask the students to think about “Although the storm broke many things apart, it brought families and neighbors closer together.〞 What other things can bring people closer together? How can we help each other in times of difficulty?
Explain some language points.
Do some exercises.
Homework: Listen and read the passage three times.
