Lecture 7 Axonometric Projection Lecture 7 Axonometric Projection 7.1 Formation of axonometric projection 7.2 Drawing method of isometric projection Axonometric projection are technically a type of orthographic projection in which the object is rotated and tilted relative to the projection plane in order to reveal all three dimensions. 1.Definition of axonometric projections S Z1 X1 O1 Y1 A1 X Y Z O A P Axonometric projections show all three principle dimensions using a single drawing view, approximately as they appear to an observer. These projections are often called pictorial drawings. Axonometric Projection plane 7.1 Formation of axonometric projections Z1 X1 O1 Y1 A1 X Y Z O A Projection plane 2.The parameters of axonometric projection 1) Axonometric axes and the angles between axonometric axes. coordinate axes the angles between axonometric axes: axonometric axes :the projections of the coordinate axes on the axonometric projection plane axonometric axes O1X1 O1Y1 O1Z1 the angles ∠X1O1Y1 ∠Y1O1Z1 ∠Z1O1X1 2) The coefficient of axial deformation O1A1 OA = p O1B1 OB = q O1C1 OC = r The coefficient of axial deformation (p, q, r) are the length ratios between line segments on axonometric axes and that on the corresponding space coordinate axes (OX, OY, and OZ). 2. The parameters of axonometric projection: A B Projection plane O1 X1 Y1 Z1 C A1 B1 C1 O X Y Z 3. Three categories of axonometric drawings: Axonometric drawing Isometric projection p = q = r Dimetric projection p = r ? q Trimetric projection p ? q ? r Axonometric projections are classified into three categories: isometric, dimetric and trimetric. The determining factor used to categorize them is the orientation of the primary axes of the object with respect to the projection plane. If the three angles between the axonometric axes are equal, the axonometric projection is called isometric. If only two of the angles are equal, the projecti
