The causes of the condition arent fully understood but are believed to be partly because of poor nutrition, disturbed sleep and the use of some devices which can cause injury. It can happen to anyone, anywhere. Theres the 87-year- old woman who broke her hip and then forgot why she was in the hospital; another elderly woman who started seeing waterfalls coming from the ceiling after being admitted. 　　HAD was first identified in the 1960s, but symptoms in todays patients are still mistaken for everyday signs of aging. HAD may look like dementia（痴呆）, but it is a serious confused state, while dementia is a condition characterized by memory loss.
