【知识目标】
Important words:
Refer to, underlined phrase, get away from, paragraph, even though, deal with.
Important sentences:
One advantage of living outside London is that houses are cheaper.
Then, in the country one can really get away from the noise and hurry of busy working lives.
Some people, however, taken on interest in country things.
【能力目标】
To know the strategies on vocabulary reading.
【情感目标】
Use the words soundly according to their meanings.
教学重难点
重点: usages of strategies on vocabulary reading.
难点:structure of passages.
教学过程
◆Step 1 Warming-up and revision
(1) Small talk
(2) Talk about the sentence structure that you’re familiar with, try to make sentences with the words.
设计意图
从活动引入,调动课堂气氛,引发学生学习兴趣
◆Step 2 Introduction
Ask Ss to look at the board and check the word to see if they know them.
Show some examples of how the sentence work.

◆Step 3 Presentation
Questions on Vocabulary Reading:
There are two types of questions. One is to test the meaning of the some words or phrases in the context, which could be solved through the following ways.
Guess the meaning of the words by the word-formation techniques.
To judge the meaning of the words from the context by synonyms, antonyms, definitions, explanations(in other words, that is, which is... which means...), examples(for example, for instance), and sentence structure.
Substitution method: We could put the choice into the blank and try to test if it’s right or not.
Another type is to test the meaning of the pronouns like this, that, these, those, it, which in the context. We need to read the passage first and then try to get the meaning of the pronouns.

Many people who work in London prefer to live outside it, and to go in to their offices or schools every day by train, car or bus, even though this means they have to get up early in the morning and reach home late in t
