Have you petted a dog recently? When that dog touched you with its nose, you were probably suiprised at how cold it was. 41
In the past, people thought that dogs had cold noses to help them control their body temperature. 42 The researchers believed that the tip of a dogs nose has a specific sensory function (探测的功能).So, they did an experiment to test it.
The research team studied three dogs. 43 And the two objects were heated to different temperatures. All three dogs were able to sense the temperature difference between both objects.
44 The dogs could sense the objects from a distance, but humans couldnt feel the warmth of the object even if they touched it.
The research team also studied the brain activity of 13 dogs. 45 From the two experiments, we can say that dogs can sense heat from warm-blooded animals. And a special region of the brain is made to be active by such heat J said the leader of the study.
But a new study has shown some interesting findings about dogs noses.
For the experiment, the dogs had to tell the difference between two objects.
If dogs are so warm and fluffy (毛茸茸的),then why are their noses so cold?
When a warm object was put near their noses, there was an increase in brain activity.
The study also found the beat from the objects “was too weak to be felt by human hands”.

Hearing their mothers5 voices makes childrens brains more active. 42 But when we hear our mothers, voices, many parts of the brain, incl
