to talk about inventions and inventors using the passive voice

教学重点
1、引导学生了解并掌握动词一般过去时的被动语态的构成及用法。
2、引导学习使用动词一般过去时的被动语态谈论中外历史上的重大发明和发 明者。
3、训练学生根据标题读前预测内容的阅读能力。
4、训练学生阅读关于发明和发明者的文段。
Step 1 Revision
Ask the following questions for the students to discuss:
Could you please tell me how many families use Microwave ovens today?
How many of you have got Microwave ovens at home? Who can tell me how a Microwave oven works?
Who can tell me why the plate doesn’t get hot when I cook something
in my Microwave oven?
…
Ask the students to discribe the usage of the facilities in the classroom in groups, and then present in class.
Step 2 Warming-up
Present the picture of Cailun, and ask the students to discuss the following:
Who is he?
In which dynasty did he live in?
What did he contribute to Chinese culture?
Today in this lesson we’re about to learn more about papermaking and some other ancient inventions.
Step 3 Part 1 1.1
Ask the students to look at the pictures in the book and discuss the questions in pairs.
Ask two pairs to talk before class.
Step 3 Part 1 1.21.3
Encourage the students to discuss what the three different titles imply to them? What does each one focus on talking about?
Ask them to look briefly through the text and choose the best title.
Read again and complete the text with the correct form of the given verbs.
Step 4 Part 1 1.4 1.5
Ask the students to practice the questions and answers in 1.4 in pairs.
Encourage them to present their questions and answers in class.
Ask the students to conclude the usage of the passive voice in this lesson and compare it with the usage in Lesson 13.
