Title: A Study on Vocabulary Learning Strategies Used by English Major Students
Introduction
The importance of vocabulary knowledge has been widely recognized in English language learning, and vocabulary acquisition has become a crucial task for English learners, especially for those majoring in English. In order to achieve effective vocabulary learning, learners may adopt various strategies. This study aims to investigate the vocabulary learning strategies used by English major students and explore the factors that influence their choice of strategies.
Research Objectives
The specific objectives of this study are:
1. To identify the types of vocabulary learning strategies used by English major students.
2. To investigate the frequency of vocabulary learning strategy use by English major students.
3. To explore the factors that influence the choice of vocabulary learning strategies by English major students.
4. To examine the relationship between vocabulary learning strategy use and vocabulary knowledge among English major students.
Research Questions
The research questions for this study are:
1. What types of vocabulary learning strategies do English major students use?
2. How frequently do English major students use vocabulary learning strategies?
3. What factors influence the choice of vocabulary learning strategies by English major students?
4. Is there a relationship between vocabulary learning strategy use and vocabulary knowledge among English major students?
Methodology
In this study, both qualitative and quantitative methods will be employed. A questionnaire survey will be conducted to collect data from English major students in a Chinese university. The questionnaire will consist of four parts: demographic information, types and frequency of vocabulary learning strategies used, factors influencing strategy choice, and vocabulary knowledge test.
