Begin the lesson by asking students if they know what a persuasive speech is and if they have ever given one before. 2. Explain to students that a persuasive speech is a speech that is intended to convince the audience to adopt a particular point of view or to take a specific action. Presentation: 1. Write the definition of a persuasive speech on the board. 2. Engage students in a discussion about persuasive speeches, asking them to share examples they know of or have heard before. 3. Provide students with examples of persuasive speeches by showing videos or playing audio recordings. 4. Discuss the features of a persuasive speech: - Clear and concise introduction - Strong thesis statement - Supporting arguments with evidence - Emotional appeal - Counterarguments addressed and refuted - Memorable conclusion Practice: 1. Divide the class into small groups. 2. Provide each group with a handout containing a different persuasive speech topic. 3. Instruct each group to research their topic and brainstorm arguments to support their point of view. 4. Assist groups as needed and encourage them to think critically about their arguments. 5. After sufficient research and brainstorming, instruct each group to write a persuasive speech based on their topic. 6. Remind students to follow the structure and features discussed earlier. 7.
