高等院校生态效率评估——以青岛大学中心校区为例的中期报告 Abstract: This mid-term report aims to evaluate the ecological efficiency of Qingdao Universitys central campus using data from the first half of 2021. The evaluation is based on the Ecological Footprint analysis methodology and includes the assessment of resource consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste disposal. The results show that the ecological efficiency of the central campus is currently low, with a total ecological footprint of 5.32 hectares per person, much higher than the global average of 1.6 hectares per person. Energy consumption and waste disposal are the main contributors to the high ecological footprint. Introduction: As the world continues to face severe environmental challenges such as global warming, air pollution, and resource depletion, it is increasingly important to evaluate the ecological performance of institutions and organizations. In this context, the concept of Ecological Footprint (EF) has emerged as a useful tool for measuring the impact of human activities on the environment. The EF measures the amount of land and sea required to sustain an individual or organizations consumption patterns, including resource consumption, energy use, and waste disposal. Qingdao Universitys central campus is a large institution with an annual energy consumption of 30 million kilowatt-hours, which accounts for nearly 85% of the universitys total energy consumption. Given this significant energy consumption, evaluating the ecological efficiency of the central campus is crucial for identifying potential areas for improvement and reducing its environmental impact. Methodology: The ecological efficiency of the central campus was evaluated using the EF analysis methodology.
