The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, including a questionnaire survey and interviews. The findings reveal that while students have some basic knowledge of English cultural connotation words, there is still room for improvement. The research provides suggestions for improving English education and cultivating students cultural awareness and communication skills. Introduction: As the world becomes more interconnected and globalized, learning English has become increasingly important for students in engineering fields. However, language proficiency alone is not enough, as students must also possess a deep understanding of cultural connotation words to effectively communicate with people from different backgrounds. The purpose of this research is to investigate the current situation of learning English cultural connotation words among engineering students in Liaoning Technical University. Literature Review: The literature review explores the definition of cultural connotation words, the importance of cultural awareness in language learning, and the challenges faced by Chinese students in learning English cultural connotation words. Methodology: The research employs a mixed-methods approach, using a questionnaire survey and interviews to collect data from 100 engineering students in Liaoning Technical University.
