In order to promote effective oral communication in different environments, it is necessary to understand the use of communication strategies by language learners in different contexts. This study aims to investigate the use of Mandarin oral communication strategies by learners in different environments and the factors that influence their use. Methodology: A literature review was conducted to identify the relevant research on the use of oral communication strategies by Mandarin learners in different environments. A survey was then distributed to collect data on the use of communication strategies by learners in different contexts. The survey included questions about the learners language background, learning goals, and the strategies they used in different communication situations. Results: The results indicated that the use of oral communication strategies by learners in different environments varied depending on their learning goals, language background, cultural differences, and emotional factors. Novice learners tended to focus on the grammatical and lexical accuracy of their speech, while advanced learners emphasized the use of appropriate pragmatics and idiomatic expressions. Teachers played an important role in guiding learners in the use of appropriate communication strategies, and their teaching strategies should be adapted to learners’ language backgrounds and learning goals. Conclusion: The study provides insights into the use of Mandarin oral communication strategies by learners in different environments.
