In2021anestimated698millionpeople,or9%oftheglobalpopulation,arelivinginextremepoverty–thatis,livingonlessthan$1.90aday.1Overone-fifthoftheglobalpopulationlivebelowthehigher$3.20povertyline(1,803millionpeople),andovertwo-fifths(3,293millionpeople)livebelow$5.50aday.2
