Chassisincludetheclutch,thetransmission,thedriveshaft,thefinaldriveassembly,

thefrontsuspension,therearsuspension,thesteeringsystem,thebrakesystem,thewheels

andtires.

1.clutch

Theengineproducesthepowertodrivethevehicle.Thedrivelineordrivetraintransfer

thepoweroftheenginetothewheels.Thedrivetrainconsistsofthepartsfromthebackof

theflywheeltothewheels.Thesepartsincludetheclutch,thetransmission,thedrive

shaft,andthefinaldriveassembly.

Theclutchwhichincludestheflywheel,clutchdisc,pressureplate,springs,pressure

platecoverandthelinkagenecessarytooperatetheclutchisarotatingmechanismbetween

theengineandthetransmission.Itoperatesthroughfrictionwhichcomesfromcontact

betweentheparts.Thatisthereasonwhytheclutchiscalledafrictionmechanism.After

engagement,theclutchmustcontinuetotransmitallenginetorquetotransmissiondepending

onthefrictionwithoutslippage.Theclutchisalsousedtodisengagetheenginefromthe

drivetrainwheneverthegearsinthetransmissionarebeingshiftedfromgearratioto

another.

Tostarttheengineorshiftthegears,thedriverhastodepresstheclutchpedalwith

thepurposeofdisengagementthetransmissionfromtheengine.Atthattime,thedriven

membersconnectedtothetransmissioninputshaftareeitherstationaryorrotatingataspeed

thatissloweroffasterthanthedrivingmembersconnectedtoenginecrankshaft.Thereisno

springpressureontheclutchassemblyparts.Sothereisnofrictionbetweenthedriving

membersanddrivenmembers.Asthedriverletsloosetheclutchpedal,springpressure

increaseontheclutchparts.Frictionbetweenthepartsalsoincreases.Thepressureexert
