Abstract:
Inrecentyears,researchoninterpersonalmetaphorinEnglishacademicbookreviewshasreceivedincreasingattentioninthefieldofcognitivelinguistics.Thisreportpresentsamid-termupdateonastudythataimstoanalyzethetypes,features,functions,andculturalimplicationsofinterpersonalmetaphorinEnglishacademicbookreviews,withafocusonthedomainsofpower,authority,andevaluation.Thereporthighlightstheresearchquestionsaddressed,thetheoreticalframeworkadopted,thecorpusconstructionandanalysismethodsused,andthepreliminaryfindingsandinterpretationsdrawnfromtheanalysisof50bookreviews.Thereportsuggeststhatinterpersonalmetaphorfunctionsasapowerfultoolforevaluativediscourseandshapingreadersperceptionsandjudgmentsoftheauthors,books,andknowledgedomainsunderscrutiny.Thereportalsosuggeststhatcultureplaysasignificantroleinshapingthechoice,interpretation,andimpactofinterpersonalmetaphorinacademicbookreviews.

2.Whatfunctionsandeffectsdointerpersonalmetaphorshaveinshapingreadersperceptionsandevaluationsoftheauthors,books,andknowledgedomainsunderscrutiny?
3.Howdoescultureinfluencethechoice,interpretation,andimpactofinterpersonalmetaphorinacademicbookreviews?
