Abstract:

TheFriedrichsextensionofdifferentialoperatorsisawell-studiedoperatortheoreticalconceptthathasbeenextensivelyusedinthestudyofpartialdifferentialequations.ThisreportpresentsapreliminaryinvestigationintotheFriedrichsextensionofaclassofdifferentialoperatorsanditssymplecticgeometrycharacterizationinthemid-term.

Introduction:

TheconceptofaFriedrichsextensionofadifferentialoperatorwasfirstintroducedbytheGermanmathematicianKurtFriedrichsinthe1930s.Thisextensionisawayofaddingboundaryconditionstoadifferentialoperatorthatmaynothavewell-definedboundaryconditionsassociatedwithit.TheFriedrichsextensionensuresthattheoperatorisself-adjoint,whichisadesirablepropertyinmanycontexts,especiallyinthestudyofpartialdifferentialequations.

Inthisreport,wefocusontheFriedrichsextensionofaclassofdifferentialoperatorsthatariseinavarietyofphysicalapplications.Inparticular,weconsideroperatorsoftheform
