turned-dad,displayedajacked-up,interactivegamecalledPuzzingo,intendedfortoddlersand

byhisownson’sdesiretobuildandsmash.Two30somethingwomenwereeagerly

seekingfeedbackforanappcalledKnockKnockFamily,aimedat1-to-4-year-olds.“Wewantto

makesureit’seasyenoughforbabiestounderstand,”oneexplained.

ThegatheringwasorganizedbyWarrenBuckleitner,alongtimereviewerofinteractive

children’smediawholikestobringtogetherdevelopers,researchers,andinterestgroups—and

oftenplentyofkids,somestillindiapers.ItwentbytheHarryPotter–ishnameDustorMagic,

andwasheldinadraftyoldstone-and-woodhallbarelyamilefromthesea,thekindofplace

whereBathildaBagshotmightretireafterpackingupherwand.Buckleitnerspentthebreaks

increasinglysophisticatedways:“Thehandsaretheinstrumentsofman’sintelligence.”
