Epistemiccontext:theepistemiccontextreferstowhatspeakersknowabouttheworld.Forexample,whatbackgroundknowledgesharedbythespeakersiscruciallypartofourepistemicknowledgewhenwehaveaconversationwithsomeoneelse.;Linguisticcontext:thelinguisticcontextreferstowhathasbeensaidalreadyintheutterance.Forexample,ifIbeginadiscussionbyreferringtoJaneSmithandinthenextsentencerefertoherasbeingatopnotchathlete,thelinguisticcontextletsmeknowthattheantecedentofher(thepersonherrefersto)isJaneSmith.

Socialcontext:thesocialcontextreferstothesocialrelationshipamongspeakersandhearers.
