Herzberg(1959)constructedatwo-dimensionalparadigmoffactorsaffectingpeoplesattitudesaboutwork.Heconcludedthatsuchfactorsascompanypolicy,supervision,interpersonalrelations,workingconditions,andsalaryarehygienefactorsratherthanmotivators.Accordingtothetheory,theabsenceofhygienefactorscancreatejobdissatisfaction,buttheirpresencedoesnotmotivateorcreatesatisfaction.salarycanfulfillbasicneedsandpreventjobdissatisfaction

EquityTheory公平理论

Salaryshouldbeequitable,orinproportiontoeachemployee’scontribution.Ifemployeesbelievethattheyareundercompensatedsalary,theymayrequestgreatercompensation–araise.Iftheircompensationisnotincreased,employeesmayreducetheircontribution–quitting.Employeesbecomedissatisfiedwiththeirjobsiftheyfeelthattheyarenotequitablypaid.Supervisorscanpreventjobdissatisfactionbyattemptingtoprovideequitablesalary.
