2024/7/15StateKeyLaboratoryofIntegratedServicesNetworksXidianUniversity21.1TheCrowdedSpectrumThedemandsonbandwidthandspectralavailabilityareendless.Currentlywirelessfindsitswidestexpressioninfixedandmobileroles.Inthefixedrole,wirelessisusedextensivelyfordatatransfer,especiallyfromdesktopcomputersandlaptops.Inthemobilerole,wirelessnetworksprovidemobilityforusefromfastvehiclesforbothvoiceanddata.Consequentlywirelessdesignersfaceanuphilltaskoflimitedavailabilityofradiofrequencyspectrumandcomplextimevaryingproblemsinthewirelesschannel,suchasfadingandmultipath,aswellasmeetingthedemandforhighdatarates.Simultaneously,thereisanurgentneedforbetterqualityofservice(QoS),comparedwiththatobtainedfromDSLandcable.
