TheimagesinthisRecommendationincludetheoriginaleightITU-Timages(referredtoforyears

astheCCITTimages),twobi-leveltestcharts,agray-scaletestchart,variousscreenedhalf-tone

images,electronicallyditheredimages,computer-generatedimages,gray-scaleimagesandcolor

images.Thepurposeofthisimagesetistoprovideaconsistentbaselineforfuturework;for

example,resultsofcompressionalgorithmexperimentsandimagequalitytestscanbecomparedbya

broadrangeofusers,knowingthattheinputimagedataisidentical.

ThespecimensreproducedinsidetheRecommendationinthefiguresaregivenforillustration
