WhatisCancer?
Cancerisagroupofmore
than100differentdiseases
characterizedbytheuncontrolled,
abnormalgrowthofcells.
Thesecellsformalumpormasscalleda
tumor(neoplasm).
Somecancers,however,suchasbloodcancers,
donotformtumors.
Tumorscanbebenign(noncancerous)or
malignant(cancerous).
Benigntumorsmaygrow,buttheydonot
spreadtootherpartsofthebodyandare
usuallynotlifethreatening.
Malignanttumorsgrowandinvadeother
tissuesinthebody.BenignMalignant(Cancer)
enterbloodstreamandmetastasizetodifferentsites
invadeneighboringtissues
Cancercanbeginalmostanywhereinthebody.
Cancerarenamedforthetypeofcellwherethecancerstarted.Forexample,
Carcinomasbeginintheskinortissuethat
coversthesurfaceofinternalorgansandglands.
Sarcomasbeginintheconnectivetissue,
suchasmuscle,fat,cartilage,orbone.
CancerTumor
Tumor:泛指肿瘤(包括良性、恶性)肿物
Cancer:恶性肿瘤的总称，癌肿
Sarcoma:源于间叶组织(肌肉、骨、软骨、纤维)
的恶性肿瘤，如骨肉瘤、纤维肉瘤(2%)
Carcinoma:来源于上皮的恶性肿瘤一癌(85%)
Allcancercellsareeventually

恶性肿瘤是严重危害人类生命和健康的一类
疾病。在世界各国中因为患恶性肿瘤死亡的人数
占三大死亡(癌症、心血管疾病、脑血管疾病)首位，
每年死亡人数约600多万。我国每年因恶性肿瘤死亡的人数约有130万，自1997年以来已占死因的第一
位。
尽管恶性肿瘤的病因和发病机制尚未最终明
确，但从大量研究表明：肿瘤的发生是环境因素
和遗传因素相互作用的结果。
