Abstract:
Fungalskininfectionsareacommonconditionaffectinga
significantnumberofpeopleworldwide.Toeffectivelycombatthese
infections,itisessentialtounderstandthepathogenesisanddevelop
suitabletherapeuticstrategies.Thisstudyaimstoestablishaguineapig
modelforfungalskininfections,evaluateitsrelevancetohuman
infections,andinvestigatetheunderlyingmechanismsofpathogenesis.
Themodelsestablishmentwillprovideavaluabletoolforfuture
researchonfungalskininfectionsandaidinthedevelopmentofnovel
treatments.
Introduction:
Fungalskininfections,causedbyvariouspathogenicfungi,pose
significantchallengestopublichealthglobally.Despitetheavailabilityof
antifungalagents,thetreatmentoftheseinfectionsremainschallenging
duetoemergingdrugresistanceandlimitedefficacy.Therefore,a
comprehensiveunderstandingofthepathogenesisoftheseinfectionsis
crucialforthedevelopmentofeffectivetherapeuticstrategies.Animal
modelsplayavitalroleinstudyingthedynamicsandmechanismsof
fungalskininfections.Amongvariousanimalmodels,guineapigshave
exhibitedcharacteristicssimilartohumanskin,makingthemanideal
modelforstudyingfungalskininfections.
Methods:
Toestablishtheguineapigfungalskininfectionmodel,healthy
guineapigswereinoculatedwithclinicalisolatesofpathogenicfungi
commonlyassociatedwithhumanskininfections.Variousroutesof
infection,includingintradermalinjectionandtopicalapplication,were
employedtosimulatedifferentinfectionscenarios.Theprogressofthe
infectionwasmonitoredbyvisualinspection,skinlesionmeasurement,
andhistopathologicalanalysis.Additionally,immunologicalparameters,
suchasinflammatorycytokineexpressionandimmune
