SinceJune20,1979,theagencyhasbeenaskedmanyquestionsontheGood

LaboratoryPracticeregulations(GLPs,21CFR58).Inaccordwithagency

procedures,responseshavebeenpreparedandcopiesoftheassociated

correspondencehavebeenfiledintheDocketsManagementBranch(HFA-305).

Theresponseshavealsobeenprovidedtothebioresearchmonitoringprogram

managersandtothedistrictofficesinordertoensureconsistencyofinterpretation

andequityofprogramoperation.Unfortunately,thenumerousfiled

correspondencescontainmanyrepeatquestionsthatarenotcategorizedtorelateto

thespecificGLPsuppartandsection.Onoccasion,theanswersappeartobe

somewhatcryptic.Thesedisadvantagesservetolimittheutilityofthe

correspondencesasadvisoriestoourheadquartersandfieldoffices.

Thisdocument,therefore,consolidatesallGLPquestionsansweredbytheagency

duringthepast2years,clarifiesthequestionsandanswersasneeded,andrelatesthe

questionsandanswerstothespecificpertinentprovisionsoftheGLPs.Itrepresents

adigestofsome30letters,160memorandaoftelephoneconversations,34

memorandaofmeetingsand30miscellaneouscorrespondencesthathavebeenissued

byagencypersonnel.Thedocumentdoesnotduplicatequestionsandanswersthat

weredealtwithintheAugust,1979PostConferenceReportontheGoodLaboratory

PracticeRegulationsManagementBriefings.

ThisdocumentshouldbereviewedbyfieldinvestigatorsproirtomakingGLP

inspectionsandbyheadquarterspersonnelinvolvedintheGLPprogram.Questions
