Abstract—Classroomattendancecheckisacontributingfactortostudentparticipation

andthefinalsuccessinthecourses.Takingattendancebycallingoutnamesor

passingaroundanattendancesheetarebothtime-consuming,andespeciallythelatter

isopentoeasyfraud.Asanalternative,RFID,wireless,fingerprint,andirisandface

recognition-basedmethodshavebeentestedanddevelopedforthispurpose.Although

thesemethodshavesomepros,highsysteminstallationcostsarethemain

disadvantage.Thepresentpaperaimstoproposeafacerecognition-basedmobile

automaticclassroomattendancemanagementsystemneedingnoextraequipment.To

thisend,afilteringsystembasedonEuclideandistancescalculatedbythreeface

recognitiontechniques,namelyEigenfaces,FisherfacesandLocalBinaryPattern,has

beendevelopedforfacerecognition.Theproposedsystemincludesthreedifferent

mobileapplicationsforteachers,students,andparentstobeinstalledontheirsmart

phonestomanageandperformthereal-timeattendance-takingprocess.Theproposed

systemwastestedamongstudentsatAnkaraUniversity,andtheresultsobtainedwere

verysatisfactory.
