Abstract

Consideringtheenvironmentaldeteriorationanddwindlingnatural

betweentotalqualitymanagement(TQM)andcorporatesustainability

(CS),andexamineshowTQMpracticescanfacilitatefirmstoachieveCS

objectives.Thisstudyalsoanalysestheimportantroleofknowledge

management(KM)intherelationshipbetweenTQMandCSand

investigateshowKMmediatestherelationshipbetweenTQMandCS.

SixTQMpracticesweretakenfromTheMalcolmBaldrigeNational

QualityAward(MBNQA)model;CSwascomprisedofenvironmental,

social,andeconomicsustainability,andKMwasmeasuredthrough

knowledgecreation,acquisition,sharing,andapplication.Thedatawas

collectedfrommediumandlarge-sizedorganizationsfromthe

manufacturingandservicesfirmslocatedinPakistan.Thetheoretical

modelandhypothesesweretestedthroughstructuralequationmodelling

(SEM).TheresultsindicatethatTQMhasasignificantandpositive

impactonCS,andKMpartiallymediatestherelationshipbetweenthem.

ThedimensionallevelanalysisindicatesthatTQMhasaninsignificant

relationshipwithknowledgecreationandKMhasaninsignificant

relationshipwithenvironmentalsustainability.Thefindingsprovide

valuableinsightstothemanagementofmanufacturingandservices

industriesandhowtheycanensurethesustainabilityintheir

organizationsthroughTQMandKM.
