粽子是中国传统的节庆食品之一，主要与端午节紧密相连。

他忠诚于楚国，但因遭奸臣陷害，被楚王流放。

HewasloyaltotheChuStatebutwasexiledbytheChukingduetotheslanderoftreacherousofficials.

公元前278年，楚国都城被秦国攻占，屈原悲愤交加，于五月初五这天投汨罗江自尽。

In278BC,whenthecapitalofChuwascapturedbytheQinState,QuYuan,overwhelmedwithgriefandindignation,drownedhimselfintheMiluoRiveronthefifthdayofthefifthlunarmonth.

当地百姓得知后，纷纷划船前往寻找，但未能找到。

Uponhearingthenews,thelocalpeoplerowedtheirboatstosearchforQuYuanbutwereunabletofindit.

于是，人们将糯米用竹叶包裹成粽子，投入江中，希望鱼虾去吃粽子，从而保护屈原的遗体。

So,peoplewrappedglutinousriceinbambooleavestomakezongziandthrewthemintotheriver,hopingthatthefishandshrimpwouldeatthezongziandthusprotectQuYuansbody.

这就是端午节吃粽子的由来。

其实，早在屈原之前，粽子就已经出现。

古人在祭祀祖先和神灵时，会用竹筒盛米，加上各种配料，再用竹叶包裹，作为祭品。

这种祭祀用的食品后来逐渐演变成了粽子。
