Abstract:ApartialskullfromtheLowerKeuper(Middleonposteriorskulltable,withsingleprominenttuberclesris-
Triassic)ofGermanyisrecognizedasbelongingtoanewingfromridges.Phylogeneticanalysisfindsplagiosauridsto
genusandspeciesofplagiosauridtemnospondyl.Itisreadilybemonophyleticwithinabroadrangeoftemnospondyls,
identifiedbythefollowingautapomorphies:(1)extremelynestingwithinacladeofshort-skulledstereospondyls.Plagio-
largeorbitsmediallyextendedtogiveverythininterorbitalsuchusisthemostbasalplagiosaurid,andPlagiosternum
regionandcheek;(2)posteriorskulltableabbreviated,withformsthesistergrouptothenewtaxon.Thebiologicalsig-
splint-likesupratemporals,postparietalsandparietals;(3)nificanceofthelargeorbitsofplagiosauridsandtheirrela-
supraorbitallaterallinesulcusabsentonfrontal,withblindtionshipstotheeyeballsisdiscussed.Theonlytypeof
