Abstract
Basedonamassivemultiple-input,multiple-output(MIMO)uplinksystem,thepair-wiseerror
probability(PEP)ofthemaximalratiocombining(MRC)decoderonthereceiverisanalyzed.The
channelisassumedtobeslowflatfading,andthebasestation(BS)knowstheinstantchannel
stateinformation.Firstly,theMRCdecoderisdefinedforthesystem.Secondly,aformulacalculat-
ingthePEPofthesystemwiththedecoderisderived.Thirdly,asymptoticanalysesofthePEP
basedontwodifferentsituationsaregiven.Theseanalysesrevealfacts:1)ThePEPcannotgoto
zeroevenwhensignal-to-noise(SNR)goestoinfinity;2)ThePEPgoestozerowhenthenumberof
antennasatBSisincreasedtoinfinityandSNRisfixed.Finally,powerscalelawonPEPisdis-
cussed.Numericalsimulationsfirmtheaboveconclusions.
