Thistypeoftrainingisknownasisometricexercise,accordingtotheMayoClinic.Isometricmuscleactionhappenswhenmusclescontractbutdonotvisiblychangelength,andthejointsinvolveddon’tmove,facilitatingstabilityofthebody.Isometricexercisescanbedonewithweightsorwithout,justrelyingonthebody’sownweight.?

Theresearcherslookedintorandomizedcontrolledtrialsthathadreportedtheeffectsofexerciseinterventions,lastingtwoormoreweeks,onbloodpressurebetween1990andFebruary2023.Fromareviewof270trialswith15,827participants,theresearchersfoundthatamongHIIT(highintensityintervaltraining),isometricexercise,aerobicexercise,dynamicresistancetrainingandacombinationofthelattertwo,isometricexerciseledtothegreatestreductionsinbloodpressure.
