    DearCostcoShareholders,

    Throughtheyears,Costco’smissionhasstayedthesame:providingourmemberswithqualitygoodsandservicesatthe

    lowestprices.WefollowourCodeofEthicsofobeyingthelaw,takingcareofourmembersandemployees,respectingour

    suppliers,andrewardingourshareholders.Bystayingtruetoourculture,Costcohascontinuedtosucceed,despitethe

    challengingbusinessenvironment.

    Thepastyearpresentedmanychallengesduetoinflationarypressuresincommodities,laborandtransportation.Ourbuying

    staffaroundtheworldexhibiteddiligenceandperseveranceindevelopingandexecutingonstrategiestominimizetheimpact

    tobothourmembersandthebusiness.Ourbusinessmodel,includinglimitingSKUcounts,focusingonthemostproductive

    items,andbringinggoodstomarketinhighvolumes,cannotonlysustainbutprovideopportunitiesinevenchallenging

    circumstances.

    Wehadstrongoperatingresultsinfiscal2022.Netsalesforthe52-weekfiscalyeartotaled$222.7billion,anincreaseof16%,

    withacomparablesalesincreaseof14%.Netincomeforthe52-weekfiscalyearwas$5.8billion,or$13.14perdilutedshare,

    anincreaseof17%.Revenuefrommembershipfeesincreased9%to$4.2billion.

    Withtheslowingofthepandemic,wewereabletoincreasethepaceofopeningwarehousesandbusinesscenters

    domesticallyandinternationally,including23netnewlocations:14intheU.S.,twoinCanada,andoneeachinMexico,Korea,

    Japan,Spain,France,AustraliaandChina.Subsequenttotheendoffiscal2022,weexpandedouroperationstoNewZealand

    andSweden.InJune2022,wepurchasedtheequityinterestofourTaiwanoperationsfromourformerjointventurepartner.
