1.Thetotalnumbersofdocumentsthatwillbestoremonthly.

2.Theaveragefilesizeofeachdocuments.

3.ThecapacityofyourpresentR/3system.

4.Yourpresentnetworkbandwidth.

5.DocumentArchivingStrategy.

6.BackupandRecoveryn.

Additionalpurchasingofhardwarearerequired,especiallyifyouhavelargeamountof

documentstostored.

Withthisinmind,youcanthendecideonhowyouwanttodoit.

Youcandothisinafewways:-

1.ImportthedocumentsintotheR/3system.

2.Useanexternaldocumentserver.

3.HaveadedicatedPCswhereallthedocumentsarestored.

MostcompaniesthatintendtousedDMSwilloptforOption2astheydoesnotwantto

overstretchtheR/3database.

Options1requiresyoutosetuptheconversioninterface.

TheconversioninterfaceallowsR/3toautomaticallycovertyourfiandimportitintothe

R/3database.

HereisasimpleexampleofstoringdocumentsintoyourPCs,justtohaveafeelhowthe

DMSworks:-

ForthoseusingCitrix,youhavetosetthisattheCitrixServerwheretheGUIislocated.

Putthiscommandinyourautoexec.bat

SETHOSTNAME=PC1234

Restartyourpc.

Youcancreate/manageyourdocumentsintransactioncodeCV01N/CV02N
