Thesefiguresrepresentanapproximate31.61%increaseinvaluestolencomparedto2023.The

numberofsecurityincidentsyear-over-year,however,decreasedby29.

Theaverageamountlostperhackin2024was$3,108,880(a23.04%increasefromtheprevious

year),andthemedianamountstolenwas$150,925(a46.83%year-over-yearincrease).

Maywasthemostcostlymonthoftheyear,with$444,386,754lostacross63incidents.

SimilartoQ3of2023,Q3of2024sawthemostlosses,with$753,301,497stolenin157hacks,

scams,andexploits.Thesubsequentquartersawa46.65%declineintheamountstolen.

Phishingwasthemostcostlyattackvectorin2024,with$1,050,129,498lostacross296

incidents,andthreephishingincidentsofmorethan$100,000,000lost.Thisrepresentsnearly

halfofallvaluestolenintheyearand39.1%ofthenumberofincidentssuggestingthat,on

average,phishingattackstypicallyleadtolargeramountsstolenperincidentthanother

vulnerabilities.

Privatekeycompromisesfollowed,with$855,385,570stolenacross65incidents.Allfour

quartersof2024sawhighlevelsofactivityinvolvingphishingattacksandprivatekeytheft.

Ethereumexperiencedthehighestnumberofsecu
