ToperformoptimizationrunsgeometricalparameterswereassignedtotheindividualRF-components.Figure2shows

Startingoutfromroughdimensionsoftheresonatorsectionsatuningprocesswasperformed.Withinitiallyonlyonehairpin

sectionthegroupdelaycanbecomputedasthederivativeofthephaseofS11overfrequency.Thelocationofgroupdelay

curveumneedstomatchthedesiredcenterfrequency,itsvalueatthepeakhasmatchthetheoreticalgroupdelaygiven

bye.g.aTschebychevresponse.Theadvantageofusingthemethodisthatitkeepsthenumberofvariabtobeoptimzed

verysmall.Forthefirstsectionthecouplingbandwidthisdeterminedbythepositionofthefeedingmicrostripalongonesideof

thehairpin.TheresonanceitselfiscanbevariedbymodifyingtheoveralllengthoftheU-shapedhairpin.Figure2showsthe

schematiclayoutofthehairpinwhentuningthesecondhairpinsection.
