Americanhistorybeganwithwavesofimmigrants,bringingtheirownculturesandtraditionstoavastnewcountry.Nootherplaceintheworldhassuchadiversepopulation.ItisthisdiversitythatmakesAmericawhatitis.

TheUnitedStateshastraditionallybeenreferredtoasa“meltingpot”,welcomingpeoplefrommanydifferentcountries,races,andreligious.

“Mosaic”alsomeans“separateculture”.Ifyouweregivenone“picture”ofAmerica,youcanseeoneunifiedculture.Butoncloseinspection,youcandistinguishthevariouscontributingcultures.

However,comparedwiththetwoconceptsofAmericanculture,“SaladBowl”isdistinctive.Firstly,“meltingPot”focusesonblendingvariousculturesandethnicities.ImmigrantpopulationswithintheUnitedStatesarebeingblendedtogetherinone“Pot”.But“saladBowl”paysmoreattentiontothemixturesofvariousingredientsthatkeeptheirindividualcharacteristics.Secondly,“Mosaic”ismorefamiliarwith“SaladBowl”,thesetwocultureskeeptheirownculture.However,the“SaladBowl”whichmeanstheuniquecharacteristicsofeachcultureisstillidentifiablewithinthelargeAmericansociety,yet,“Mosaic”ismoreindistinct,andweshoulddistinguishitsuniqueculturethroughcloserinspection.
