Every kind of burial activity which surrounds the dead reflects many domains of the real society directly or indirectly. It closely clings to the religious faith, moral principle, nation ideology, the way of life, even the social structure.?To reveal the value of life and understand the meaning of death, we should establish correct burial concept. The merit of Chinese culture and American culture are controversially mixed. It is difficult to show broad and profound Chinese and American burial etiquette comprehensively. Burial custom is the form which is inherited from the accustomed action. The primary research on this subject is to analyze the burial etiquette in only one country or one age. In order to know the cultural differences between China and America on burial etiquette well, first it is better to understand the burial customs in each nation.This paper consists of six parts including introduction, four chapters and conclusion. Introduction educes the main content of the paper. It simply introduces the burial, the reason of analyzing this subject as well as the chief content of the paper. The second part discusses American burial etiquette. It is divided into two sections and it analyze the traditional and modern burial etiquette. The third part is about Chinese burial etiquette. It is also divided into two sections, and it analyzes the traditional and modern burial etiquette in China. The fourth part discusses the cultural differences of burial etiquette between the two countries. The fifth part is about the origin of these differences. The last part is the conclusion.Ⅱ.
