Then, what is motivation? The psychologists who research human behaviors come up with a variety of motivation theories. Willisms and Burden?(1997) believed that motivation is the emotional power; which can help people make a plan and keep moving to get the expected result1. The motivation of learning English is the desire and power which comes from the English learners. Spolsky?(1989) believed that the motivation of learning foreign language includes three aspect contents: the manners of learning foreign language, the desire of learning foreign language and the desire to pay the efforts2. Gardner?(1972) believed that the motivation including four aspect contents: the goal, the study effort level, the desire serving the study purpose and the intellectual curiosity3. It is one kind of internal driving force to directly impetus foreign language study and it is one kind of aware activity and enthusiastic psychology of the foreign language learner’s in foreign language learning activities. Brown R?(1981) categorized the foreign language learning motivations as three kinds: the global motivation, the situational motivation and the task motivation4. According to the description of modern psychology, motives have four major characteristics:?“Cause”,?“guidance”,?“Strength” and?“maintain”. In English learning, motivation can help students cultivate lofty goal, raise their level to overcome their learning difficulties, and get good grades under the conditions of the competition. Then, the passion of students for learning English can be lightened. B. The Importance of Promoting the Students’ Motivation Whatever you study, learning motivation is necessary, of course, including English.
