GUIDEMAN HAND SIGNALS 10: START ENGINES Make a continuous circular motion with the right hand at approximately head level and, with the left arm, point to the engine. A separate Start Engine signal should be given for each engine, except when a Pushback engine start is applicable. In this case, keep the left arm straight down at the side. GUIDEMAN HAND SIGNALS 11: ENGINE FIRE If any significant engine fire develops while Starting engines, the Guideperson should signal the aircraft operator by swinging the wand in the right hand in a fanning motion in front of and below the waist. Using the left arm, point to the engine, which is on fire. The aircraft operator should immediately accomplish the Ground Engine Fire procedures (select and discharge engine fire extinguishing systems as necessary, etc.). GUIDEMAN HAND SIGNALS 12: CLEARANCE TO DEPART The aircraft operator should indicate readiness to depart by one flash of the nose taxi light(s). Prior to departure salute, Guideman must show steering bypass pin (if applicable) has been removed by displaying the pin to the Captain. With approved wands (lighted at night), the Guideman should execute a right-hand military salute (left arm down at side) indicating the airplane is clear to taxi. 1. INSTALL CHOCKS Aircraft operator will raise hands with hands clinched and thumbs extended and pointed toward each other. Move hands back and forth toward each other indicating the need to install chocks. COCKPIT TO GROUNDCREWHAND SIGNALS 2. REMOVE CHOCKS Aircraft operator will raise hands with hands clinched and thumbs extended and pointed away from each other. Move hands back and forth toward each other indicating the need to remove chocks. COCKPIT TO GROUNDCREWHAND SIGNALS 3. PARKING BRAKE PARKED The Captain will make a downward movement with clenched fists.. COCKPIT TO GROUNDCREWHAND SIGNALS 4. READY TO DEPART OR READY TO TOW With left thumb extending from clenched left hand, make an over-the-left-shoulder motion. COCKPIT TO GROUND
