Chapter I Introduction 1.1 Background Introduction In May 2010, our college arranges us for internship in Beijing. We worked in a big hotel named Holiday Inn Downtown Beijing. According to the curriculum set for our Tourism English major, the learning content of the students majoring in this major consists of two parts. One is two-year-learning of the knowledge from textbooks. The other is half-year-practice of internship. The six-month internship is mean to make a utilization of the textbooks .What else, we磀 like to see the internship to make a great contribution to promote our skills to use the knowledge we have learnt from the textbooks to advance our value and also tadapt to society gradually. To our pleasure is that all these goals have been achieved after internship. We have mastered some certain information about the operations of a hotel through the practical application of the six-month. And we have benefited a lot via practice ourselves. Many a skill has been grasped by me during the internship, including language skills, communication skills, observation skills, resilience skills and so on. In addition, I have accumulated some experiences about the art of hotel management and the importance of rational utilization of human resources. During this six month, I found out what I was lack of and congested a large amount of experiences, summarized the experiences and lessons I have learned. I believe that I磍l be more clear about direction of my life. And then continue to carry out the self-enhancement plan for my future. 1.2 Introduction to the enterprise of internship 1.2.1 Introduction to the enterprise of internship―Holiday Inn Beijing Downtown Holiday Inn Downtown Beijing is belongs to Inter-Continental. In 1946 the Inter-Continental was founded. And in 1981 the Holiday Inn was founded. This hotel was very standard and the geographical position was very good. It lies near the financial street.
