The whole novel is filled with the contrast between his disapproval of the reality and his dream of a “utopia” society. To a great extent, the whole novel is an image of the English society of Swift’s time. This essay aims to study the author’s writing purposes, the novel’s literary and social value through the analysis of the hero in the novel and his voyages imagined by Swift Jonathan.
