Selective Readings from Foreign Newspapers Magazines Sept. 14th, 2008 qytai@ Outline Class Policies; Introduction to this course; Syllabus Textbooks Assessment Class Policies Class sessions Sessions will begin and end on time. Attention and participation in discussion are expected. Attendance Attendance is part of the final course grade and roll will be taken. Be prepared and present for class. Class activities may be conducted without advance notice and may not be made up. Class Policies Absence Students are allowed three excused absence from this class for sickness and emergencies during the semester. Any other absences, for whatever reason, will result in a lower grade. Classroom etiquette Smoking and spitting are not allowed in the classroom. Eating is not allowed during the class sessions. Please turn off mobile phones during class. Class Policies Homework tests It is the student’s responsibility to get and make up any assignment given during an absence. Homework will be given half credit if late and may not be accepted if more than one week late. Tests may not be made up; contact me if an emergency arises.
