When he was 16, he started his writing. During his short life, he mainly wrote four autobiographical novels、several novellas、short stories and some essays and so on. Because of his brilliant works, he was regarded as one of the foremost American writers of 20th century and was once considered to be an equal of Ernest Hemingway, Scott Fitzgerald and William Faulkner.
