As a mirror reflecting the society, language images the social views and values. Sexism in society is thus inevitably reflected in the use of language. The paper explores the phenomena of sexism in English and Chinese by using universal evidence, making the comparison of them from the similarities which include four aspects: sexism in word order, sexism in names, sexism in proverbs and semantic collocation and metaphor, and summarizes the differences of sexism between English and Chinese which include two aspects: different uses of the third personal singular pronouns, different ways of manifestation of sexist language. The paper also points out the reasons causing the sexist language in English and Chinese. Key Words: sexism; English; Chinese; language; comparative study I.
