内容摘要 贞节，特指女性对男性在性问题上保守节操。关于明代妇女的贞节问题，学 术界近年来专门进行研究的论文论著并不多。且以往的观点立足于正史中政府关 于贞节的鼓吹及思想界尊崇理学为正统的背景，认为女性的贞节观念到了明代是 大大加强了。本文鉴于明代通俗小说中有着大量的描写世态人情的作品，从相当 程度上可以反映当时的社会风俗，故力图从小说——主要是 “三言”、“两拍”、 “一型”及 《清平山堂话本》等这类话本或拟话本——来入手，佐以正史、山西 及南方诸省的方志和 《双槐岁钞》、《戒庵老人漫笔》等明人笔记中的相关史料， 来对这一问题进行更全面细致的探索，以求接近于历史的真实。 首先从中国伦理史上看，贞节观念在明代继续强化，女教书继续增多，正史 中烈女的人数突然攀升；通俗小说中也出现了一些典型的贞节事件。明代贞节观 念强化的原因有传统血缘伦理、政治、教育等方面。但与此同时，小说中有着普 遍的再嫁现象或者在贞节事件发生的事由背后我们看到了逼寡妇再嫁等现实。从 一些明人笔记、通俗小说及北方的山西，南方的浙江、福建诸省地方志对明代的 记载几方面来看，也印证了这一现象。形成这种再嫁等实际行为的原因有历史和 现实两方面：人的本性不可压抑、家庭经济条件的作用不可低估、明中后期世风 变得开放、进步思想家的倡导，等等。所以，在整个有明一代，其实一直存在着 普遍的女性失贞及改嫁现象。在对历史进行更全面观照和思考的同时，社会史研 究从小说方面入手是一个新视角；思想史、社会史研究者应将研究重点转移到大 众文化方面，因为精英文化对大众文化的渗透是一个艰难的过程。 关键词：明代 小说 女性 贞节观 6 Abstract The chastity, particularly refers that the female keep the sex integrity for the male. About the subject of womens chastity of Ming Dynasty, there is lack of the special academic research in recent years. And the former viewpoints, based on the governmental advocacy of the chastity in the official histories and the legitimate Neo-Confucianism background, thought that the feminine chastity idea was strengthened greatly during the Ming Dynasty.
