Methods T o tally 13 0 str ain s of S. p neumoniae w ere collected t o test the M ICs of v ario us antibio tics by agar dilutio n m ethod acco rding to the appro ved standard of CLI S. Results O f the 130 st rain s of S. p neumoniae, 67 ( 5 1. 5% ) w ere r esistant to penicillin ( M IC \2mg / L ) , 6 . 2 % , 69. 2% , 17 . 7 % and 3. 1% o f these iso lates w er e resistant to amo xicillin , cefuro xim e, cef otax im e, and ceftr iaxo ne re- sp ect ively. T he resistance r ates to er ythro mycin , azithro mycin , chlor amphenicol and tetr acy cline w er e 92 . 3% , 90. 8% , 89 . 2 % and 93. 8% r esp ectively. A ll the 130 strain s of S . p neumoniae w ere sen sitive to v ancomy cin , levoflox acin , mo xiflo xacin , tig ecy cline and linezo lid .
