A bstrac t: Obj ec tive T o investigate the d istr ibution o f sero types ofK lebs iella neum on iae in Shenyang. M e thods PCR m e thod w as
u sed to investigate the sero types o f 149 non-dup licateK lebsiella neum oniae stra ins iso la ted from January 2 008 to O ctober 2 009 in the
F irstH ospita l of Ch ina M edica lU n iv ers ity. R esu lts O f the 149 iso la tes, 1 1 ( 7. 4% w ere iso lated from liver abscess, the o ther 13 8
( 92. 6% w ere from o ther infectiou s d iseases. O f the 14 9 iso lates, 3 w ere identif ied as K 1 sero type, 2 w ere K 2 serotype. The overall
prev alence of K 1 and K 2 sero types w as 3. 4% , w h ich w ere a ll iso lated from in fectiou s d iseases other than liver abscess. O f the 138 iso-
lates from o ther infectiou s d iseases, m ost ( 13 3, 9 6. 4% w ere non-K 1 / non-K 2 serotype. Conc lu sion s K 1 and K 2 se ro types are not
predom inant in theK lebs iella neum oniae strains isolated from infectiou s diseases other than liver abscess in Shenyang area.
